Calmic Birth Services are dedicated to providing holistic, woman centered care to all women.

It is my belief that pregnancy is an amazing journey and numerous studies have revealed the benefits of having a continuous support present during pregnancy and labor. A recent Cochrane Review, Continuous Support for Women During Childbirth, revealed a very high number of positive birth outcomes when a known midwife was present. Women were less likely to have pain relief medications administered, less likely to have a caesarean birth, and reported having a more positive childbirth experience.

As an Endorsed Independently practicing midwife, i will provide antenatal care, birth care and postnatal care in the comfort of your own home. I offer continuity of care experience focused around the needs of each individual and will work with you to ensure you are well supported throughout your pregnancy, birth and the early days of becoming a parent.

What is a Midwife?

The word 'midwife' is from Anglo-Saxon words; mid = with, wif = woman.

A midwife is a person who, having been regularly admitted to a midwifery education programme, duly recognised in the country in which it is located, has successfully completed the prescribed course of studies in midwifery and has acquired the requisite qualifications to be registered and/or legally licensed to practice midwifery. (International College of Midwifery)

The midwife is recognized as a responsible and accountable professional who works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, to conduct births on the midwife's own responsibility and to provide care for the newborn and infant. This care includes preventive measures, the promotion of normal birth, the detection of complications in mother and child, the accessing of medical or other appropriate assistance and the carrying out of emergency measures.

We at Calmic Birth Services understand that having a new baby can be overwhelming for many new parents which is why we offer personalised appointments in your home to help address any issues with breastfeeding and support new families.

As a Registered Midwife I am registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) and follow professional evidence-based guidelines.
